Roadcraft, tested two ways
Two organisations, one shared foundation. IAM RoadSmart and RoSPA both train and examine against the Roadcraft system used by police advanced riders — but they get there differently. Below is a breakdown of each, plus a running log of trips and tours.
IAM RoadSmart
The UK's largest independent road safety charity. 1-to-1 coaching from a volunteer Observer, working toward a single Advanced Rider Test.

Roadcraft, in brief
Both organisations train and test against the same core system, drawn from "Motorcycle Roadcraft" — the Police Rider's Handbook.
IPSGA
Information, Position, Speed, Gear, Acceleration — the core system applied continuously on the approach to every hazard.
POWDERY Checks
Petrol, Oil, Water, Damage, Electrics, Rubber, Yourself — the pre-ride check confirming bike and rider are fit to ride.
Limit Points
Reading the vanishing point on bends to judge a safe cornering speed before committing to it.
Safety Bubble
Maintaining space and time around the bike to deal with hazards calmly, not reactively.
